Bravado Hair Salon | Brawn Barbershop | Brew’d Coffee Bar

"We now feel that we have a handle on our business are able to be proactive rather than reactive."

Regan Moyes and Daniel Matene are the founders of Bravado Hair Salon, established in 2019 after relocating from Wellington. Rapid growth saw the business outgrow its original premises, leading to a move into a salon three times the size in 2024. Since then, Regan and Dan have continued to expand, launching Brawn Barbershop and Brew’d Coffee Bar.

Dan leads from the front, working closely with clients and guiding the team on the salon floor. Regan manages operations across the group while also working full-time in banking.

The Challenge

With multiple businesses, big ideas and ambitious growth plans, Regan and Dan found themselves lacking clarity around direction and priorities.

“We felt like we were fumbling around in the dark when trying to manage and grow the business. We didn't really know what to do or where to start.”

They needed more than compliance support — they wanted guidance, structure, and a clearer understanding of their numbers so they could make confident decisions.

Why Sudburys

Regan and Dan were introduced to Sudburys through Nikita, initially as a professional relationship that quickly became one of trust.

“Nikita shared with us what she and Sudburys do and how they help businesses develop and grow, and it evolved from there.”

What stood out was Sudburys’ practical, people-first approach and focus on turning strategy into action.

“Nikita gave us the direction we were so desperate for.”

The Sudburys Approach

Through structured coaching and advisory sessions, Sudburys helped Regan and Dan unpack challenges and focus on what mattered most.

“In our coaching sessions, we were able to pour out our problems, and she was able to break down what seemed so big into small, actionable steps.”

Sudburys also became a trusted sounding board as their ideas and plans continued to evolve.

“Having Nikita as a soundboard has been such an asset, especially when we have such grand (and ever-changing) plans.”

Clear, visual reporting brought meaning to the numbers and supported better decision-making.

“The palatable and aesthetic dashboards break our numbers down and give them meaning.”

The Outcome

The biggest shift was moving from reactive to proactive.

“We got sh*t done! We now feel that we have a handle on our business and are able to be proactive rather than reactive.”

While growth continues to bring challenges, Regan and Dannow feel better equipped to face them.

“While nothing's perfect just yet, we feel we have a broader awareness and are able to face challenges head-on.”

And they know they’re not navigating it alone.

“Business is bloody hard! But knowing we can turn to Nikita for advice and Sudburys for support has been so valuable.”

The Verdict

For Regan and Dan, the impact of working with Sudburys extends beyond leadership to their wider team and customers.

“Sudburys support and advice with strategy, team, breaking down the numbers and business challenges will not only benefit leadership, but the team and customers will reap the rewards and feel the cohesion as well.”

Their final word?

“They say knowledge is power, but knowledge with wisdom, focus, direction, confidence and application is a superpower, and that's what Sudburys deliver; with laughs and warm fuzzies along the way.”
